Sex Magicians

Sex magicians are those who use sexual energy in the casting of magical spells and auguries. The most famous sex magician to date was probably Alastair Crowley, who used sex and sexual effects extensively in the work that he did. But there were many others throughout history, particularly in Asia, who unlocked the power of sex, abstinence, and kundalini energy to power their will.

The root of power for a sex magician is the root chakra, at the base of the loins, and the kundalini power that coils around the base of the spine behind that chakra. Sex magicians engage in different sexual processes to either release that power through all the chakras, or through his and a partner’s chakras, or he may engage in any one of a variety of methods designed to retain that kundalini power while building it up.

The first and most common type of sex magician is the one who uses sex and its orgasmic release to build up power and then direct it. Instead of just engaging in sex, a sex magician of this type works to understand himself and his desires, then engages in sex in a directed way, usually involving breathing techniques and other self-trance methodologies, so that he releases the power of the orgasm during his orgasm and directs it to do his will.

This sort of sex magician can engage in heterosexual relations, masturbation, or even (with caution and with proper preparation and understanding) group sex. Crowley and others also used homosexual intercourse, but this does not match well with the balance taught in Taoism, which is one of the basic principles behind sex magic. In any case, the sex act ends with an orgasm and release of energy.

The second sort of sex magician is one who refrains from sex. Because sex and the relationship dance that circles around it can be very distracting and even vexing for the magician, it may be easier to learn to focus the will by refraining from all sex. After a period of time, either long or short, sexual desire will diminish or even vanish, allowing the sex magician to attain that which he really wants: an understanding and communion with that which lies beyond ourselves.

Sex magicians may vary their practices between sexual activity and abstinence as well, using periods of each to magnify the other.

The third type of sex magician is one who engages in sexual intercourse to the point of orgasm, but learns to subsume his ejaculation rather than spend it. This preserves all the energy of intercourse and orgasm within the sex magician, who can then use it to create the magical effects he is looking for.

As with all forms of magic, the sex magician must use the form that he can best turn to his will. The most difficult for most is the third time – sex without orgasmic release – but many people can’t focus well enough to make this work without long years of practice. Try the one that you think will work for you; if it doesn’t, move on to another practice.
