Sex as an Ascension Vehicle

There is no denial that sex and the pleasure found within sex are among the most transcendent experiences a human can undergo. Not only orgasm, but the closeness found within sex, the love and romance, and the passion are all powerful, even overpowering sensations. It should come as no surprise that sex as an ascension vehicle can be found in almost every culture, either in its denial or in the channeling of its power to a higher level.

When you look at sex as an ascension vehicle, you are usually examining a relationship between two complementary halves, the yin and yang, female and male components. The Tao symbol of the yin and yang is perfect, for in each half, a tiny portion of the other half resides, allowing us concourse with the other half. Each half is equally powerful, despite its differences from the other, and each benefits from the power of the other. When one half is overemphasized, the harmony of nature is thrown out of balance. Either side in excess causes problems on a small or large scale.

This works on a sexual level as well. Sexual pleasure is critical for both partners, but only as a by-product of proper spiritual focus – a recognition of the two opposites being joined. When sex is working as an ascension vehicle, the first chakras align and resonate, bringing both partners in tune. Energy is traded and shared as well. The fourth chakra, controlling love, works much the same way. When sex is used to ascend, the pleasure starts at the first chakra and moves upward, moving through each chakra. With the most perfect union, the kundalini energy of both partners entwines them and extends through the seventh chakra, enabling both to commune with God.

Only in a truly balanced and sharing relationship can this process of sex as an ascension vehicle work Energy must be exchanged in an equitable and fair way, and the chakras must be open and ready to accept energy. Amplification of pleasure results in an amplification of the energy thus channeled.

Tantric sex starts at the first chakra, where the aim is to maximize sexual pleasure and amplify the attraction between the partners. Intent, at this point, must be focused upon as well. Most people approach sex with the intention of enjoying themselves and bringing a partner enjoyment. When the fourth chakra is stimulated, intense love and pleasure are both felt simultaneously. The end chakra, the seventh at the crown of the head, is the same spot that chi is raised in kundalini yoga, and is also the chakra attuned best to the soul. When this chakra is stimulated in tantric sex, the partners commune at the level of their souls. Their psychic energy is aligned at this point, and the soul has transcended the normal world. In some forms of sex magick, this point is to send a spell via the will at this point, but in many types of tantric sex, the point is just to transcend this world as a couple, both experiencing God and becoming more in tune with one another.
