Other Negative EmotionsYour emotions can affect your personal development, especially if you are in a relationship. The saying is true. You have to love yourself before anyone else can love you. If you seem to have primarily negative emotions, then changes in your life need to be made. Whether you suffer from self-esteem issues, are self-conscious, or feel a lot of anger towards both yourself and others, these negative emotions can eat at you and cause misery to both yourself and others. How you act and the emotions you show, whether in public or in the privacy of your own home, will be accessible to anyone you are in a relationship with. If you have low self-esteem, the wrong person will be able to take advantage of this. If you are self-conscious about whom you are, then they may begin to doubt you as well. Ultimately, your confidence and ability to show healthy emotions, whether negative or positive, will dictate your relationships. On the other hand, just because an emotion may appear to be a negative emotion does not mean it is healthy. While anger or excessive sadness can be conceived as negative emotions, it is quite common and healthy to experience them occasionally. That is the key though. These should not be mainstays in your life. They should be occasional emotions you feel. If you believe you have negative emotions, you can seek counseling services or try to get over your issues on your own. Ignoring the issues will not help. This will just push the issues under the rug. The negative emotions will still be there and eventually your true colors will shine through. Relationships have a way of making people feel bare and wide open. You can only hide the negativity for so long before it becomes too much, and if you hide who you are, then chances are you will lose the (potential) man or woman of your dreams when they find out the truth about you. Negative Emotions Here is a list and some information on some negative emotions you may feel and the result of long-term negative emotions. You need to come to terms with your negativity in order to grow as a person and in your relationship. Only through understanding, can you grow with your mate and remove the negativity from your life. Anger: Anger can lead to hatred. This can make a person bitter, which can lead to all kinds of problems. If you feel angry all the time, you need to find out whom you are angry at or why you seem to be angry at all. Excessive anger can lead to depression, low self-esteem, problems in relationships, abusive behavior of both yourself and others in your life, self-destructive behavior such as cutting or suicide, and even violence against others you may not even know. Sadness: While sadness is a healthy emotion, that everyone can and will experience, to always be sad and not move past traumatic events (such as a death in the family) is unhealthy. This is another example of a healthy emotion becoming a negative emotion. If you simply cannot overcome your sadness you may face issues with depression, self-image problems that can lead to anorexia or bulimia, low self-esteem, and you may be incredibly self-conscious. Anti-apathy: Being apathetic creatures by nature, it can be negative to become anti-apathetic, especially to the plight of others. Not only is this a narcissistic and self-destructive emotion to have, it can also lead to problems with the law. People who are anti-apathetic often believe they are above the law. They are fearless, have no comprehension of how their behavior affects others (and often do not care when it does), lack compassion, and can even cause them to commit horrific acts of violence in the process. There are other emotions, which can be negative though they relate to the three main negative emotions that are listed above. If done in excess, nearly any emotion can be negative. This includes being worried, depressed, apprehensive, skittish, avoidant, and snappish. » 1792 reads |
